Challenge
One of GTA's clients located in Wisconsin is a leading manufacturer of electrical and mechanical related products. Procurement and design decisions are handled by our strategic teams based in the U.S., while production of parts and components are executed by GTA's manufacturers throughout mainland China. The final assembly plant where the finished product was to be handled in Mexico.
Our client was notified of a surprise audit by one of their leading automotive customers in China. The client did not have the staff or resources in China to prepare for the audit and wanted to avoid the time and expense required for international travel. Understanding that GTA provides comprehensive quality assurance services, our client called upon us for immediate assistance.
Solution
GTA quickly assembled our dedicated engineering teams located in close proximity to the client's manufacturing plant in China. The team spent one day reviewing and prioritizing quality issues and discussing corrective and preventative actions. Recommendations were provided for the client's review and approval. Corrective actions were then prioritized and categorized based on operational divisions and supervisory personnel.
The following day GTA's team worked with our client's customers and appropriate staff at the factory to implement the corrective actions and technical solutions and provide a full report to the client.
Result
The meeting was highly successful and our client's customer was very satisfied with the quality oversight and attention to detail. Costs incurred by the client were dramatically reduced while quality processes for maintaining product integrity and compliance were substantially increased. Our clients end customer was satisfied and business was protected along with protected the clients reputation.
